About My Work

Picasso said one should be radical in her art.

I translate his thought to mean— experiment, try a new way of looking at things, break out of the proverbial box.

Using various and often-unexpected materials I tell a story, make an observation, explore emotions, events, a point of view, or a simple truth. Each piece I make contains the seeds of the next.

Quilting is my primary medium; my hands are my essential tools. Fabric, yarn, raffia, beads, wire, metal findings, odds-and-ends intended for other purposes—form my palette. Using traditional techniques—hand and machine sewing, appliqué, embroidery, beading—my intent is to move beyond the traditional notions of quilting.

And so, of late, I've been creating sculptural works…a leap into the third dimension!
